Family Planning and Birth Control

Family planning and birth control options

Natural family planning: fertility awareness is a method of preventing pregnancy that does not require the use of hormonal birth control or barrier methods of birth control. We will discuss how to determine when you are most fertile by tracking things such as basal body temperature and cervical mucous. Fertility awareness can also be used when trying to become pregnant.

Birth control: we will discuss the risks and benefits of each type of birth control with you, as well as the effectiveness of each method. We will also review your medical history, as some types of birth control can increase your risk of having a problem. Using shared decision-making, we will help you to decide which form of birth control is best for you. Once a decision is made, we will provide you with a prescription. If you choose a method such as Nexplanon or an IUD, we will order the device for you and set up an additional visit for insertion. We offer pain management options for IUD insertion.

Telehealth: telehealth visits are available to discuss natural family planning or birth control options. Please note that in some cases, an additional in person visit may be indicated before a prescription can be provided.
